Growing up, Andrew Morehouse was exposed to many styles of music. However, when in middle school, one of his friends exposed him to electronic dance music. Andrew Morehouse continued to listen to other styles of music, but most of them faded away. Electronic dance music stuck with him through the years. He still continues to listen to other styles of music to get inspiration for songs, but mostly he is a purist of electronic dance music.
In April of 2000, while stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, Andrew Morehouse was taken to his first event where DJs were playing electronic dance music using two turntables and a mixer. What he saw astounded him and will never be forgotten. With two of the most prominent DJs in the United States playing that night, Frankie Bones and Heather Heart, he now knew his calling in life.
Being in the Army while trying to get recognized locally as a house DJ was a difficult task. Before he could really gain a foothold, Andrew Morehouse was deployed to Kuwait two times in a row. Shortly after returning from the 2nd deployment, he was sent to Korea to be stationed there for one year. During his year in Korea, which got extended by 3 months, he stayed in his bedroom every night practicing on two Technics 1200 Mk 3s, a Pioneer 600 mixer, and a small home stereo. After a few more years in the Army, Andrew Morehouse finally returned to what he now calls home, Austin, TX.
Since arriving back in Texas, Andrew Morehouse has been playing at events locally and around the state of Texas on a regular basis. With a range of styles from mellowed out deep house to funky high energy house, Andrew Morehouse is always a pleasure to hear perform.
