Kara Jean is a breakbeat DJ who's affiliated with Close Encounters Entertainment (Odessa, TX) and Broke Nasty out of Austin. Straight out of high school in 2003, Kara instantly feel in love with the EDM scene when she went to her first after hours weekly warehouse party in Dallas called Fallout and from then on out she never stopped keeping up with the scene. Throughout the years, she has kept a special love and dedication for breaks. KJ got her roots DJing in 2007 where she held a residency at The Sugar Shack along side The Sugar Shack Playas in Lubbock and since then has played all across Texas. Living in Austin now for just under a year she has combined forces with local breakbeat DJs and producers - 8*B1T, Jon Wert and Sphynx - to form Broke Nasty, Austin's only breakbeat crew, which has gotten much representation in the breakbeat world. Just within the last year, she has been booked at various venues throughout Austin, played at both Bring on the Beats WMC tour events in Austin and Dallas along-side DJ Deekline (UK), Scratch- D, and Brazen (Miami) and has just recently gotten back from Oregon, where her and fellow Broke Nasty crew member 8*B1T opened for Breaks Inc at a yearly three day festival called Where Life Begins. She currently holds a residency with the Broke Nasty crew and other local talent at Karma Lounge(Austin) for BOOM Sundays, a breaks, Dnb, and dub step weekly hosted by Davinci Unlimited. One of the main differences that sets her apart from most DJs is her "digging" skills", searching for rare music and obtaining absolutely the best breaks from the decades. With her high energy behind the decks and love for Florida and Party Breaks, this breakbeat fanatic is notorious for laying down the booty bouncin bass that never disappoints and always gets the crowd hoppin. With her percussion background, dedication to vinyl, and skill on multiple mixing mediums, Kara Jean has also proven to be a truly skilled DJ. Keep an eye for this lady of the beat cause she knows how to keep it real, bring the bass and play with the big boys.
