Rudy has been a DJ in the Texas Underground Scene since 1997.  He started collecting vinyl and dance CDs in the early 90's just for the love of early 'techno' and 'rave' music, though he didn't start 'mixing' until 1996, when he bought a used Vestax CD mixer. Shortly after, Vega made the switch from CD to turntable mixing and with the help of his brother Rob Nelson, taught himself the basics of turntable mixing.

Originally from South Texas, he has been a favorite for his unique style and smooth transitions blending from Chunky, Aggressive House - to driving Tribal/Tech-House and everything in between.  He has been heard playing funkier & sometimes deep, or even darker sets, but he always puts on an energized set. Rudy Vega is devoted to the Finest, classiest music that is always fresh, original, and above all else, danceable.  With a style ahead of the rest, spinning the most soulful grooves that fill you with energy & make you want to dance.  Rudy is all about innovation and sophistication.

In March of 2000, during Spring Break at South Padre Island, Rudy Vega entered a week-long DJ Spin-Off Championship Hosted by the Black Marlin Bar, which is popular for its 'Spring Break Rave After-Hours'. He alongside his brother and many Texas local talents had 20 minute sets. At the end of the night, Vega was crowned S.P.I.'s Spring Break 2000 DJ Champion and walked away with $500 cash! Later that year, Rudy released his first studio mixed CD; SEXY SILICON GROOVES on ROMA SOUL RECORDINGS. Local Texas publication FEEDBACK MAGAZINE reviewed the CD and called SEXY SILICON GROOVES "An intensely beautiful spell of virtuoso house-mixing in the best way". Trevor Baca, Managing Editor for FEEDBACK goes on to state "think house music focused like a laser, and you're only partly there. Every single track's a winner and the mixing is flawlessly energetic".

Since 1987, SXSW has produced the internationally recognized Music and Media Conference & Festival, and in March of 2002, Rudy Vega got invited to be a performer at SXSW's EDM Category.

Rudy has terrorized dance floors with some of the best international DJs such as Rabbit in the Moon, Spacegirl, David Alvarado, Vicious Vic, Friction & Spice, and Bad Boy Bill, just to name a few.  He has played everywhere in Texas and at such exotic locations like Monterrey, Mexico.  He has crossed musical boundaries that have influenced him such as West Coast House, to Deep Tech-House.  He believes that ALL musical boundaries should be crossed, and that there should be no such lines or 'genres' dividing music.

Rudy Vega will take you on a journey from the calmest depths to the darkest realm of the Underground world. Are you ready?
